Mary Rose,my friend since childhood

Created by Jane 7 years ago

Mary Rose was one of the first people I saw when I joined the Lower Fourth at Godolphin School in Salisbury aged eleven. I remember being transfixed because she was unlike the rest of us; slim, radiantly beautiful, with plaits and freckles and wearing her uniform with a stylistic twist. Charming and very sweet. The plaits went but not much else changed; we saw each other in London,I remember her on a boat,in a flat in Knights bridge and other places, always quietly hospitable gathering friends around her. Later she bought adorable baby Clemmie in a push chair to see me when I was a junior doctor in Odstock Hospital in Salisbury and later, still, when we each had a gaggle of children we had family picnics in our house in S.Gloucester.I have a special memory of the lovely house with shutters in France,my children have never forgotten swimming in the lake and the enchanting bedrooms. She was a steadfast lovely loyal friend,we shared letters and when we met we pick up where we had left off. I miss her very very often and wish I had the time with her again, when I would make the most of every second.Darling Mary Rose.xx
